What is Browser-Safe Color Palette / Web-Safe Colors?
Browser-Safe Color Palatte / Web-Safe Colors is the set of colours(216 colors) use to make websites when computers back then(the old times) are capable of only displaying 256 colors(8bits) on both Macintosh and PC.
Good website for knowing the colors: www.visibone.com/colorlab/big.html
Is it still relevant in todays context? Why?
Yes. Although computers nowadays can display up to millions of different colors thus much more colorful websites, some people still use it because it helps to limit your choices of colors to only 216 colors especially those people who lack color picking confidence (or just lazy) haha. To me, I find that more colors means nicer and better website as it gives me freedom to explore the different colors.
What are the common fonts face found on PC & Mac ?
Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana and Georgia
What is page loading time and how it influence your design?
Page Loading Time is the time take for a website to load and open up fully.
I feel that page loading time truly affects your design. People want information fast and effective but with too much information website tends to load slower even if website is good looking. Loading time is very crucial. So I believe that website should be much more simpler and nice with less unwanted or unnecessary junks and up to date news and information therefore when people open up the website it will load faster, information is up to date and is well organized.
Read about Web Design Process article above and write what you think about it
I find this site very useful to those who wish to design a website. It helps students like us to better understand the steps and guides needed to design a website. It tells us how exactly we need to manage our workflow. “The Seven Phases of Website Development” as well as to me is the most important factor. It not only applies to Web designing but also any other design work.
The Web Design Workflow shows what we will do in designing a website. Meeting the client and knowing what the client wants. Then sketch ideas and drafts. This is when we go in depth to the design process. “A Design Process Revealed”. Using those steps we will be able to create and finalize a good design. Once we have a good design we will be able to go to web design process.
I personally feel that this article is really good. It helps me understand how great web designers do their work and how great websites were made. It also shows me how important some of the previous modules taken can help us such as concept development, colour theory and so on. So year 1 stuffs are important too….hahaha
